You approach the counter after waiting in the sun for 10 minutes. A light fan dissuades bugs from consuming the appealing pastries to your left. A sign advertising a creamed espresso brings you to reconsider your usual cortado. A brief thought skitters across your consciousness, a brief whisper that you’ve learned to ignore in this scenario… How much does that drink cost? You consider purchasing a bag of freshly roasted beans, noticing no price is listed amidst the selection. You glance at some unremarkable fruit in a bowl under the iPad register. $3. Hmm… must be some single origin fruit? You purchase that bag of beans; the lowest option costs $20. You take it home and realize you spent at least $10 less than required to make a properly tasty cup of artisanal pour over. The evidence builds until you can’t ignore it any longer. Goodboy Bob is overpriced.

I was staying in Santa Monica and met a friend here. It was hidden away, but the vibe was cool and the espresso was perfect. I bought a bag of coffee. I randomly picked the Ascent Blend and it was perfect when it was brewed at home. I actually could taste the citrus. Not pictured was the burrito I got. So…I was by far the oldest one there but I still got the cool vibe.

I come to Goodboybob at least once a week and overall I really enjoy it. The coffee is consistently great, the location is super convenient, and lately I’ve been really into the brown butter latte. What prompted me to write this review is the pistachio cake. It was decent, but I was honestly surprised when I realized it was $12 for a single slice. I didn’t catch the price until it was already being rung up, and that felt pretty steep for what it was. I personally wouldn’t pay $12 for it again. The frosting was also very sweet. I think it could really benefit from a bit of salt to balance out the buttercream. That said, everything else about the shop is solid and I’ll definitely keep coming back for the coffee.

Good Boy Bob, should be on your list in Santa Monica. A quaint location but with stellar service. I tried a signature drink BBL😉 and I was not disappointed! The pastries are homemade and the burritos, to die for!!! Try THE SIX!!!!!! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their business. I am forever loyal!

Love this little hidden coffee house. Fantastic latte coffee! Enjoyed a delicious bacon egg avocado wrap aka Nueske, an amazing orange cranberry scone. The outdoor seating area is perfect for sipping and conversation. Went back again before leaving.
